As we’ve mentioned, the Armor Seed team is committed to bringing you field-tested products that will perform under always changing and challenging conditions. We’ve been diligent this year and are pleased to offer our widest-ever slate of new soybean varieties for 2019—split over two blog posts in the coming week.

Heading into planting season, we’re going to put our trust in Mother Nature to cooperate, but we are truly excited about many of the new varieties, as well as a few of our most trusted stand-bys.

THE NEW ADDITIONS

ARMOR 42-D27
We’re excited about the potential of Armor 42-D27 in your field. This one’s a first-in-first-out high yield option. With a nice plant and seed size, as well as a great disease package, it comes out of the ground strong. With very good lodging scores, this STS variety dries down nicely and harvests easily. If you’re considering a 4.0 – 4.4 maturity bean this season, Armor 42-D27 deserves a look after ending up as a leader in this maturity group last season.

ARMOR 45-D43
Armor 45-D43 warrants strong consideration as you plan for the upcoming season. This 4.5 RM variety produces a strong, medium-sized plant with excellent standability and boasts competitive yields on productive soils that are prone to lodging. It’s bound to be a solid addition to the mix on your farm.

ARMOR 47-D22
This 4.7 indeterminate Xtend variety has huge potential, especially for our more southern growers, having placed as a top-three variety in this year’s Commercial Strip Trials (CSTs). A high yielder with a great disease package—good resistance to both stem canker and frogeye leaf spot—Armor 47-D22 performs well across all soil types. Good emergence, light tawny pubescence and a brown color, you might best compare this one to top performer Armor 47-R70 if you are familiar.

ARMOR 47-Z01
We’re excited about the addition of this 4.7 RM GTLL variety. With nice agronomics and solid yield, Armor 47-Z01 fills a nice niche for growers looking for this type of bean this season. Tolerant to both glyphosate and gluphosinate, this technology gives growers more weed control options.

ARMOR 49-D13
Ask your Armor Seed rep if Armor 49-D13 might be a good fit for your field for you this season. As with all Armor Seed products, your geography is important. This particular 4.9 RM medium-tall variety has shown pockets of excellent performance and could be a difference-maker in your field. Armor 49-D13 performed best on medium and light soil types.

FEATURED ARMOR TRIED-AND-TRUE

ARMOR 48-D24
Armor 48-D24 is a yielding machine. Back in the line-up again, it is an excluder 4.8 indeterminate variety with excellent seed size. This “under-promise-over-deliver” variety can be planted across all soil types without worry. Since it is a medium size plant however, we see the best performance, weed control and harvestability on medium and lighter soil types. Armor 48-D24 tends to be prone to “green stems” prior to harvest, so a harvest aid is highly recommended.

A proven leader, Armor 48-D24 has an excellent disease package. Its three-year CST average of 70.6 bushels has kept it at number one year after year. Reliability and consistency you can trust.
